The Terrace Tunnel - State Highway 1 - in central Wellington has reopened.
It was closed on Tuesday evening while police negotiators spent three hours speaking with a woman who was standing at the top of the southern entrance to the motorway tunnel.
A police spokesperson says the woman came down about 9.30pm and was taken to hospital.
