Police in Marlborough are searching for a microlight that may have crashed near Havelock.
Spokesperson Barbara Dunn says a woman reported to local police that she may have seen the aircraft crash at Kaiuma Bay about 4pm Thursday afternoon.
Ms Dunn says an Air Force plane has flown over the area but there was no sign of a craft, and police have begun searching.
She says a helicopter will soon scour the area.
