A woman who hid a pair of shoes believed to have been worn by someone involved in the killing of Featherston man, Glen Jones, has been sentenced in the High Court in Wellington.
Cassandra Granich had earlier pleaded guilty to one charge of tampering with evidence.
Mr Jones died in January this year after being beaten in his home.
Granich was given a pair of shoes by one of those accused of being involved in Mr Jones' murder and threw them into another property near her home, in what she said was a spur of the moment decision.
Justice Ron Young says he accepted Granich was remorseful and community detention was a sufficient punishment.
He ordered she serve five months and she carry out 100 hours of community work, placing her on 12 months supervision.
She is also required to take drug and alcohol counselling.
