South Auckland communities say they are being kept in the dark about a potential new motorway, but Auckland Transport says it has nothing yet to consult them about.
A new road is proposed to link State Highways 8, 1 and 20 to reduce congestion and help freight movement.
Four ideas for routes have been drawn up, most of them going through residential areas.
Wymondly Road School principal Pelu Leaupepeteleh says three of them go through the school in Otara. He says no-one from any agency has spoken to him about the road.
But Auckland Transport says the four potential routes are only ideas.
The agency says plans could go out for public consultation next year once formal proposals have been made.
