Police say they have received information a British tramper missing in Nelson Lakes National Park might have left the trail he was last seen on.
Andy Wyatt, 36, was walking the Te Araroa Trail between Nelson Lakes and Boyle River, and was last seen at Blue Lakes about 13 December.
He was expected to tramp to Boyle settlement in the Lewis Pass, where he was due to pick up a food package three days later.
Senior Constable Phil Simmonds said police are following up on information that he left the Te Araroa Trail.
He said police have messaged Mr Wyatt via Facebook and are hoping he may respond.
