Part of a street in central Tauranga was cordoned-off on Friday morning due to a gas leak.
The line was cut at about 10.45am by contractors digging at the corner of Devonport Road and First Avenue.
Police were called to control traffic.
The Fire Service said the gas company has since managed to stop the leak.
