King tide warning for west Auckland

9:25 am on 1 February 2014

West Auckland motorists and cyclists are being warned to take care as exceptionally high tides threaten to flood a section of a highway and cycleway.

The king tides are expected to be at their highest peak of abouy 3.6 - 3.7 metres in the Waitemata Harbour on Saturday morning and Sunday.

The Transport Agency is urging motorists to take extra care around the high-tide mark.

It said if conditions become hazardous, drivers will be diverted from the Northwestern Motorway, and cyclists from the adjoining cycleway.

The first high tide was due shortly after 9am on Saturday and the next just after 10am on Sunday.
