A Northland fire chief is calling for directional arrows to be painted on more roads after the second crash this week involving tourists.
A British woman, who was riding pillion on a motor bike, was killed on Tuesday in a head-on collision with a car driven by a French tourist, on the Karikari peninsula road.
Police believe the car was driving on the right-hand side of the road.
Kaitaia chief fire officer Colin Kitchen said such crashes are becoming common and the Karikari inland road to popular beaches needs arrows to remind overseas visitors to drive on the left.
On Sunday, two people were seriously injured and an unborn baby killed, when a car collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a French tourist on Whangarei Heads Road.
A woman has been charged with careless driving causing injury.
