A woman has drowned at a Bay of Plenty beach on Saturday.
St John Ambulance says it got a call just after 3pm about a man and a woman in the water near Pukehina Beach.
The pair are believed to have been fishing.
St John Ambulance says the woman was pulled unconscious from the water but subsequently died.
The Fire Service says it understands the man is all right.
