The driver of a truck has died after the vehicle was hit by a train in North Waikato.
KiwiRail says the Northern Explorer train with 108 passengers on board was travelling south from Auckland when the collision occurred near Rangiriri at 9.45am on Thursday.
The driver was the only occupant of the truck.
KiwiRail says none of the passengers on board the train was injured.
The track was closed, affecting freight services alone.
