The police have found the body of a 46-year-old man who disappeared on Friday while swimming in the Whanganui River.
They say Shaun Robert McIvor jumped off a cliff intending to swim about 50 metres across the river to the opposite bank at Mosquito Point, about 5km north of Whanganui.
Friends lost sight of him.
The police dive squad found his body at about 1.30pm on Saturday.
Mr McIvor's death has been referred to the coroner.
