Worksafe New Zealand has confirmed it will fully investigate how a lift worker fell down an old lift shaft at Speight's Brewery in Dunedin on Monday morning.

The man was taken to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition.
Brewery company Lion says the subcontractor to the lift firm Kone was in the shaft decommissioning an old lift when he fell about 9am.
Lion says Kone has told it the man had been fully inducted to the site, and it was not his first visit.
It says no more work will be carried out on the old lift until Worksafe's investigation is complete.
