Taskforce to look at flood measures

Christchurch City Council has created a taskforce to deal with the city's flooding problems.

Christchurch has had extensive flooding in recent months, as well as earthquake-damaged drainage networks, especially in the north-eastern area known as the Flockton Basin.

Mayor Lianne Dalziel says the council aims to introduce measures such as temporary flood barriers as soon as possible.

The taskforce will report to the council in three weeks about meeting immediate needs, as well as providing longer-term solutions.
