A woman has died after a crash between a car and a truck on SH3, north of Palmerston North.
The police said the incident occured at about 7am on Monday morning.
They said diversions were put in place while the car and truck were moved.
The ambulance service said two other people received minor injuries during the incident, with one person treated at the scene and the other taken to hospital.
