The police have recovered the body of a man from a riverbank in the Wakamarina Valley in the Tasman region on Sunday evening, but said it appeared that the death was accidental.
Police were alerted by a member of the public shortly before five o'clock.
A post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death but the police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
