Strip club fighting to keep liquor licence

1:48 pm on 5 May 2014

A strip club in Auckland is fighting a suspension of its liquor licence after police said it was caught selling drinks after hours.

Auckland District Licensing Committee inspector Anita Marsh said she turned up at Calendar Girls with two police officers for a routine check in May last year.

Ms Marsh told an Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority hearing that police found receipts showing the club had sold alcohol after 5am.

The officers said there were also several drunk people there.

Defence lawyer Steven Rollo said several things have changed at the club since the checks last May, including pop-ups on the bar tills to alert staff about the time.

The authority reserved its decision.
