The head of the rugby club a young Northland player belonged to before he died after an on-field tackle says there was a huge turnout to a game honouring his memory on Saturday.
Jordan Kemp, 17, died last Sunday after suffering bleeding on the brain, from what appeared to have been a severe knock the day before.
His team mates at Otamatea Hawks Club decided the most fitting way to remember the hooker was by playing against Horahora at Maungaturoto on Saturday.

Otamatea Hawks Club president Kevin Robinson said Jordan Kemp's team was fired up for the game and won 31 - 7.
Mr Robinson said there was a big community presence at the game.
All New Zealand Super Rugby games over the weekend will pay their respects to Jordan with a minute's silence.
