A Northland school staff member has appeared in court over an alleged indecent assault against a student.
The staff member and the school's name are suppressed.
The Ministry of Education says the staff member is not a teacher.
Police say the 59-year-old first appeared in a Northland court earlier this month, on one charge of indecent assault against a girl aged between 12 and 16.
The staff member is currently on bail, and is due to appear again in court later this month.
This comes after a wave of abuse cases in Northland recently.
