A person has been been airlifted to Middlemore Hospital in Auckland in a critical condition after their car plunged onto rail tracks.
The car came off a bridge and landed on the tracks at Waiuku on Monday night.
The track is used to take supplies to the nearby steel mill.
The Fire Service said the person was trapped and had to be freed by crew.
