Bad weather is clearing in parts of Rotorua, where the Fire Service had up to 30 callouts to flooded properties and to rescue people trapped in vehicles in floodwaters.
A lane remains closed on State Highway 30 on Te Ngae Road, where a car crashed and brought three poles down, cutting power to just more than 80 customers. One person was seriously injured in the crash.
State Highway 36 at Hamurana Road, near Keith Road, has reopened.
The Fire Service said extra crews from Tauranga and Hamilton were called in as a precaution.
