6:33 pm on 23 August 2014

Police say a serious and sexually-motivated attack on a young woman took place at about 8.30am this morning in the grounds of Waikato University.

The police in Hamilton said the 20-year-old woman was punched and dragged into a secluded area at the university.

They said the man ran off after she resisted vigorously and screamed.

The police said the offender was in his 20s, about 160 to 170 centimetres tall, with shoulder-length black hair.

They said he was wearing dark trousers and shoes and a white long sleeve sweat top with two distinctive black lines down the full length of the sleeves.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hamilton police station or the Crimestoppers hotline.
