Jamie Gough said that when he got into a taxi in Victoria Street last Wednesday night after feeling unwell from drinking while taking antibiotics, he realised he did not have his wallet.

He said the taxi driver feared he would not pay his $62 fare and took him to the police station where his details could be confirmed.

Mr Gough said the driver came to his house the next day to be paid.

A spokesperson for the mayor, Lianne Dalziel, said she has spoken with Mr Gough about the incident and no action will be taken.
