A man has been arrested after another man was threatened with a running chainsaw at a petrol station in Alexandra.
Police say the two men got into a heated argument early this afternoon and one of them took a chainsaw out of his car boot, started it and walked towards the other.
They say the two men have long standing ill will towards each other.
Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said it was an act of stupidity and it was lucky no-one was hurt.
A 45-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon and will appear in the Alexandra District Court tomorrow.
