Boosted results for Christchurch Airport

Christchurch International Airport says a surge in passenger numbers has boosted results for the last financial year.

It contrasted with the previous year, when annual profit fell six percent after a drop of almost 500,000 passengers in the aftermath of the Canterbury earthquakes.

Airport chairperson David MacKenzie said total operating revenue for the year ended June 2014 grew by 10 percent to $130.7 million.

Mr Mackenzie said passenger numbers grew three-point-five percent over the year, with five percent growth in the second half.

He said the airport was now in a strong position to complete planned capital projects and pursue further growth opportunities.
