The Nelson-based fishing company told staff last week 97 jobs could go, but the number has jumped to 150.

Spokesperson Alison Sykora said 53 of those employees are contractors through Advanced Personnel Services, which has other positions for the workers to go to.

But APS Nelson branch manager Tate Ulsaker said it was not correct that the agency had jobs lined up for everyone.

He said the firm helped people find jobs, but there was no guarantee.
