Council getting advice on security

5:13 pm on 14 October 2014

The Manawatu District Council is seeking professional advice on whether it needs to improve its security.

A woman yesterday poured petrol through the council's Feilding office and threatened to set it alight.

The council's acting general manager, Shayne Harris, said the layout of the customer service area would be reconsidered.

Mr Harris said several staff were affected by yesterday's incident, and some have seen an on-site counsellor today.

A 39-year-old woman charged with assault with intent to injure, attempted arson and trespass appeared at the Palmerston North District Court today and was remanded in custody until 4 November.
