Homicide inquiry after Auckland death

7:58 pm on 22 October 2014

Police investigating the suspicious death of a man in West Auckland last night are trying to establish whether other people were involved.

An ambulance crew called to the industrial area of Westech Place in Kelston at about 9.30pm found two injured men.

One, seriously injured, died at the scene; the other underwent surgery in hospital this afternoon.

Detective Inspector Bruce Scott said despite paramedics' efforts, the seriously injured man could not be saved.

"They proceeded to give him CPR for some 20 minutes and he didn't survive."

Mr Scott said it was thought the less injured man was the person who called the ambulance.

It was not known known whether a third party was involved, he said.

"We believe that the two men who lived there are friends and we don't know how the injuries have been inflicted at this stage.

"They lived in a warehouse-type premise that's got a couple of bedrooms in it."

A post mortem will be conducted on the dead man.
