It happened outside a supermarket in the suburb of Northcote on Auckland's North Shore.

Ms Knight has been recovering in a rehabilitation facility since leaving hospital.

Her husband, Peter Thomas, has said on social media that she will return home permanently on Friday after making tremendous progress.

Mr Thomas earlier wrote that seeing her in a hospital bed was scary and shocking but it was amazing how fast his wife was recovering.

Hendrix Hauwai, 17, has admitted charges of aggravated wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault with intent to rob.

He will be sentenced on 12 December.
