12:50 pm on 31 October 2014

Police say an arrest has been made over a brazen attack which left a 24-year-old man unconscious on the side of the road in South Auckland.

Adam Benefield was found seriously injured on the corner of Princess Street and Beatty Road after leaving his relative's house in Pukekohe on foot around midnight on 1 August.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has spent the last two months recovering in a rehabilitation unit.

Police said a 16-year-old man was charged with assault last month but a second person was still being sought.

They said just before Mr Benefield was found, yelling was heard outside the shops and people were seen running off.
