A man arrested in relation to a homicide in Auckland has appeared in court charged with assault after a 50-year-old man died at a Wairere Road house in Waitakere, last night.
Police found a 45-year-old man they were seeking in Whanganui earlier today and charged him with assaulting a woman and assault with intent to injure.
He appeared in Whanganui district court late this afternoon and was remanded in custody until next week.
He had also been granted interim name suppression.
Police said the investigation was still in its early stages and they had not decided yet whether to lay further charges.
The victim's body was being removed from the house this afternoon and there would be a post-mortem tomorrow.
