Searchers have recovered the body of a 56-year-old diver from the sea at Pourerere Beach in Central Hawke's Bay.
The Hastings man went missing while snorkelling with a friend at the beach yesterday afternoon.
Police said the man's body was found this afternoon in the sea not far from shore.
A post-mortem would be carried out tomorrow and the death had been referred to the coroner.
The man's name was not being released until all of his family had been notified.
