State Highway One near Karapiro in Waikato has reopened following a fatal crash earlier this afternoon.
The crash happened at about 4.30pm.
One person died and five people were injured in the crash, including an eight-year-old Tokoroa boy who is in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit.
His mother and 11-year-old brother are being assessed in the emergency department.
A 25-year-old and a 16-year-old woman both from Te Awamutu are also in the hospital's emergency department, in a stable condition.
