A man has drowned off Otaki Beach, on the Kapiti Coast, after his boat flipped offshore.
A spokesman for St John ambulance said they were notified by the police just before 4.30pm today.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another person, who was on the boat, made it to shore uninjured.
The man's body was taken to Palmerston North hospital by helicopter.
