Police in Palmerston North say they expect to lay further charges against a 33-year-old man who has been arrested for sexual assault.
The man will appear in the Palmerston North District Court on Monday and has been charged with sexual violation against a 23-year-old woman at a Ferguson Street property 10 days ago.
There have been at least four sexual assaults reported in the Palmerston North suburb of West End in recent months.
The latest occurred last Thursday when a 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in her Linton Street home by a man who got in through an open window.
Police are appealing for sightings of a green 1992 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan, which is believed to have a personalised number plate.
They say their inquiries into the other sexual assaults are continuing and they are investigating potential links between the cases.
