A man who was seriously injured after falling about 30 metres from a tree in Otaki yesterday afternoon is in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital.

The Philips Search and Rescue Trust, which operates rescue helicopters, said it was called to the scene after the man, thought to be in his twenties, suffered serious head injuries in the fall.
Paramedics treated him before he was flown to hospital.
