A night-shift worker at The Warehouse in West Auckland has been held up by men with a handgun.
Police say two men approached the staff member who was leaving the Lincoln Road store in Henderson at 12.30am today.
The staff member was forced to take the men back into the building and open the safe.
The robbers left with what the police said was a quantity of cash.
The worker was not hurt.
Police said the pair left in a silver sedan with a registration number starting with an X.
One was described as about 165cm tall, of medium to fat build, and wearing a black hooded jumper with a red pattern on the front, a sleeveless orange vest with silver markings, black gloves and full length black pants.
