Bluff drowning victim named

The police have named the man who died at Ocean Beach near Bluff yesterday afternoon.

He was 42-year old Craig Arthur Reid, of Invercargill.

A police spokesperson said Mr Reid was collecting shellfish offshore with friends when he got into trouble in the water.

Several people attempted to resuscitate him, without success.

The case has now been referred to the coroner.
