Worker talks bear fruit in Lyttelton

Lyttelton Port workers have suspended strike action planned for this week after a break-through in wage talks.

Members of the Rail and Maritime Union had issued strike notices for six days of action due to start on Wednesday, after protracted wage talks broke down.

The action has been suspended after what the union said was a change of heart from the Port.

A ban on overtime which was already in place has also been lifted.
