Police divers have recovered the body of a woman missing off Motunau Beach, in North Canterbury since Sunday.
A police spokesperson said the Police National Dive Squad found the body of a diver around 100 metres from the last known position of the woman shortly before 9am.
Five police divers resumed their search about 7am.
Formal identification had yet to be completed, but police said it was likely to be the diver who went missing while diving for crayfish with a friend on Sunday morning.
The death has been referred to the Coroner and no details will be released until the next of kin have been informed.
