A 54-year-old man has pleaded guilty at the High Court in Wellington today over his involvement in a scam offering advertising to businesses.

Anthony John Hendon pleaded guilty to 24 charges of reproducing documents with the intent to cause loss.

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) said Hendon, who was charged in 2012, promised prospective advertisers he would print and distribute their advertisements, using advertisements from genuine publications as examples of his work.

He also inflated the number of magazines to be printed and circulated.

The SFO said he obtained more than $750,000 between February 2010 to October 2012.

He will be sentenced on 1 April.

Two other defendants previously pleaded guilty and were sentenced to home detention and community work.

Two others - Noelene Kay Banton and Johannes Hendrik Maria Middeldorp - deny the charges and their trial starts next month.
