A man found dead in a Whanganui park last night was visiting family from Hamilton for the weekend.
The body of 26-year-old Tyrone Box was found in Te Mana Park by some children about 8.30 last night.
The police removed the body this afternoon, and a karakia was performed at the park.
They were yet to confirm the cause of death.
A post-mortem would be carried out in Palmerston North hospital tomorrow.
The police said the man was originally from Whanganui, but had been living in Hamilton and had family living around the park.
