The board of trustees at a North Canterbury college has been sacked.
The Ministry of Education took the action at Rangiora High School, and a commissioner is being gazetted today to establish policies in the area of school governance, employment and finance.
The board's chair, David Turnbull, said the issues of concern to the ministry stemmed from the previous board, and a lot of new trustees joined the board last year.
Mr Turnbull said it had made clear to the school community the issues did not relate to student welfare.
