Fire Service says the blaze at a kiwifruit coolstore just out of Te Puke in the Bay of Plenty is now largely out.
Firefighters spent much of the night battling the fire at the Oakside Packhouse in Rangiuru.
They were first alerted when an alarm went off just before midnight.
A spokesperson said a digger has removed much of a roof that collapsed and a small crew is putting out the last few hotspots.
