Counties Manukau police are investigating how one of their patrol cars was set alight in Pukekohe last night.
Officers left their car parked in Princes Street just after midnight to go on foot patrol in the area.
When they returned, 20 minutes later, it had been set on fire.
No one was hurt but the car has been extensively damaged.
