An Ashburton man accused of speeding through Marlborough on Wednesday has had his car impounded after another incident yesterday.

The man was arrested in Marlborough after being clocked driving at 171 kilometres an hour south of Ward.

He fled when police indicated for him to pull over and after a short pursuit, the man was stopped and arrested.

He was charged with dangerous driving and received an immediate 28 day suspension of his driver's licence.

Yesterday the police in Marlborough tipped off colleagues in Canterbury that the man was back behind the wheel.

Shortly afterwards, he was stopped in Temuka.

The man's car was impounded and he faces additional charges of driving while suspended.
