Police seek armed, dangerous Hamilton man

11:51 am on 18 March 2015

Police are looking for a man whom they believe to be armed and potentially dangerous, in connection with the alleged kidnap and assault of his former partner in Hamilton.

A woman who presented at Waikato Hospital on Monday afternoon with head injuries said she had escaped from an address in the suburb of Frankton.

The Armed Offenders Squad went to Sayer Street yesterday, looking for 40-year-old Adam Potete Bailey.

The police said there was a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in the Hamilton District Court yesterday, relating to charges of assault and breaching a protection order, dating back to January.

Mr Bailey is described as a male Maori about 186cm tall of medium build.

Police caution the public against approaching Mr Bailey if they recognised him.

"Police believe he may be under the influence of drugs and have access to a firearm. If you see [him] do not approach him, but instead phone 111."
