A man has been charged with threatening behaviour, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer after an incident in Auckland this morning which forced a school into lockdown.
Police said a man they were chasing fled into Takapuna Normal Intermediate School after allegedly threatening staff at nearby North Shore Hospital.
They said the school was placed into lockdown for a short time, but the safety of staff and students was never at risk, and classes were only suspended briefly.
The man is currently undergoing a psychiatric assessment.
