Progress in fishermen assault investigation

8:10 am on 5 April 2015

The police say they are making progress in their hunt for two men connected with the serious assault of two Korean fisherman at Ti Point Wharf on Wednesday morning.

The police said they had received information from the public that is helping them form a picture of the attackers.

They are hunting for two Caucasian men travelling in a dark-red Ford Falcon station wagon, with windows that may be tinted.

The Korean men were fishing at the wharf in Leigh when the assault occurred.

One of them returned to his car to sleep but was woken by a man knocking on the window.

The police said he was threatened with an axe, then robbed and knocked out.

When his friend came to his aid, he too was assaulted.
