The number of tsunami sirens along Christchurch's east coast is to be more than doubled.
The Christchurch City Council is installing another 25 tsunami sirens.
The sirens will be going up in Spencerville, North New Brighton, Ferrymead, Mt Pleasant, Redcliffs, Moncks Bay, Sumner and Taylor's Mistake.
The installation will start in the next week and be completed by the end of June.
The existing 22 sirens will be tested at 11 o'clock this morning.
