A police search for firearms in Wainuiomata near Wellington yesterday afternoon uncovered a large cannabis operation.

They executed two search warrants using armed police just after 4 oclock.
A police spokesperson said they were searching a property for a person suspected of unlawfully possessing firearms, but instead they discovered a large marijuana growing operation.
